The idea of Mico began in 1988 when during her sophomore year at Assumption College, Mia Urquico started accepting orders of clothes from her classmates. Since her older brother, Jojo, was a fashion designer, she had the advantage of having clothes made to measure. She would fill the trunk of her car with orders and use the school's restroom as a fitting room. Within the same year, she opened her first store in Virra Mall.
Being an avid learner, Mia finished her master’s degree in entrepreneurship at the Asian Institute of Management in 2004 then pursued a fashion design course at the Central Saint Martins in London.
Mia’s store in Shangri-La Plaza Mall has enjoyed a loyal following with a diverse clientele ranging from debutantes to ladies celebrating their 50th wedding anniversaries. The brand has become a destination for women who value relaxed sophistication and exquisite construction. Most recently, Mia launched a collection of linen pieces that embody barefoot luxury.
In keeping with Mia's ethos of making women and men look good from the inside out, Mia has redefined Mico to mean:
M - Make a difference
I - Inspire
C - Care
O - One with you
